Social Enterprise Kent helps young job seekers
This month’s employment figures make for grim reading, with rocketing youth unemployment, a flat economy and ever-rising numbers of jobseekers allowance claimants.
But All Seasons Care Services has stepped in to help, with the launch of its 2012 apprenticeship scheme aimed at anyone over the age of 18, who is not currently in education or employment in Herne Bay, Whitstable and Thanet.
All Seasons, based in Herne Bay, forms part of Social Enterprise Kent which is committed to helping people back into employment and training.
A spokesman for the group said: “Through our community interest companies and our charity Kent Enterprise Trust we aim to help as many people in our local community re-enter the labour market as possible, encouraging local economic growth and the growth of small and medium enterprises and new business starts in Kent.
“The near future doesn’t look too promising for those who struggle daily to get their foot in the door. The Office of National Statistics has stated the highest number in part time employment since records began of currently 1.3 million because they cannot find full-time positions and the number of young people out of work is also rising, hitting 1.04 million in the three months to November. This all adds to the growing concern amongst communities and pressure surrounding our government.
“Our apprenticeships in health and social care offer the perfect opportunity to those that are currently not in education or employment¬¬¬¬ and equips them with not only the essential experience and skills necessary for a successful career in health and social care but they also get to work alongside experienced staff, earn qualifications to enhance their CV and enjoy the same privileges as a full time employee including paid holiday, free uniform, training and CRB checks.
“All Seasons Apprenticeship Scheme offers a solution to the local community by offering paid, full-time apprenticeship which leads to participants fast tracking a very successful and long term position within this rewarding growth industry. Currently Social Enterprise Kent has a 100 per cent success rate with apprentices moving into full time employment within their chosen industry following on from the course.
“We are holding an open day at Westwood Cross Shopping Centre in the Community Hub from 11am to 5pm on Saturday (February 4) for anyone to come along and find out more, have a casual chat with experienced staff and if they feel it is for them, register their interest.”
