Chris Knott Insurance offers aid
A Kent charity supporting terminally ill patients and their families has tied-up with a local insurance broker to benefit from an innovative fundraising opportunity.
Supporting over 350 patients at any one time and with running costs of over £3.6m a year, the Heart of Kent Hospice, based in Aylesford, is heavily dependant on the generosity of its local community to be able to continue to provide its expert care and support for patients with advanced cancer, motor neurone disease, or other life-limiting illnesses.
In the current economic climate, when more traditional fundraising streams don’t always generate the necessary funding, the charity was seeking for alternative ways of raising valuable funds.
Broker Chris Knott Insurance was able to provide just that by offering them a unique alternative.
Whenever a hospice supporter asks Chris Knott for a car, home or business insurance quote the broker will donate a quarter of its earnings on the resulting policy to the hospice. They’ll do the same at renewal too, for the life of the policy.
Caroline Brinkman, corporate fundraiser at the hospice, said: “Our supporters are already buying their insurance from somewhere but we’re asking them to try The Heart of Kent Hospice scheme. If the cover and the cost are comparable, why wouldn’t they switch and benefit their local hospice? I would encourage individual supporters and our corporate partners to call for a quote at renewal time.”
Neil Franklin, MD of Chris Knott Insurance added: “We love helping local charities to raise funds in this way and I’m personally delighted to be working with The Heart of Kent Hospice. Hospices do such vital work in our communities and it’s our pleasure to give fundraising assistance to one of the region’s best-respected providers of palliative care”.
